UPDATE #4: Using Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ and Leveled Literacy Intervention for Remote Learning

Starting Friday, May 8, 2020, Heinemann will provide temporary, teacher-only, digital access for educators who have purchased the below resources. Access will be available in your Online Resources account through December 31, 2020. (Please note, this date has now been extended to June 30, 2021.)

  • Fountas & Pinnell Classroom Guided Reading books, K–6
  • Leveled Literacy Intervention books, K–5
  • Phonics, Spelling, and Word Study lessons, K–4
  • Fountas & Pinnell ClassroomCollection Guides (per grade level, per instructional context)

The two resources below are available now to support your planning:

  • Video Overviews with a guided tour of how to access your Online Resources
  • Suggestions to Support Literacy Learning (located in your Online Resources account)

Introduction

These are unprecedented times. Like many of you, we continue to follow the development around COVID-19 with hope and reflection and as promised, we have been working on ways to support educators and students in this uncertain time. This shift to remote learning has prompted many questions related to access and permissions from our valued Fountas & Pinnell Literacy™ customers. In partnership with Irene Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell, Heinemann will provide temporary teacher access to these Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ and Leveled Literacy Intervention resources.

Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), K–5:

  • Starting Friday, May 8, 2020, LLI teachers (K–5) who have an LLI account will have temporary, teacher-only, digital access to their LLI books via their Online Resources. (Look for the “LLI Books” tab in the blue navigation bar).

  • A document titled, "Suggestions to Support Literacy Learning," is now available in your Online Resources account.
  • We grant temporary permission for teachers to use their print or digital LLI books in a closed digital environment to support your school/district policies and remote learning plan (example: screen share).

Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ Guided Reading (FPC GR), K–6:

  • Starting Friday, May 8, 2020, FPC Guided Reading teachers (K–6) who have an FPC GR account will have temporary, teacher-only, digital access to their guided reading books via their Online Resources.
  • A document titled, "Suggestions to Support Literacy Learning," is now available in your Online Resources account.
  • We grant temporary permission for teachers to use their print or digital FPC GR books in a closed digital environment to support your school/district policies and remote learning plan (example: screen share).

Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ Phonics, Spelling, and Word Study System (PWS), K–4:

  • Starting Friday, May 8, 2020, PWS teachers (K–5) who have an PWS account will have temporary, teacher-only, digital access to their PWS lessons via their Online Resources.
  • We grant temporary permission for teachers to use their print or digital PWS lessons in a closed digital environment to support your school/district policies and remote learning plan (example: screen share).

Fountas & Pinnell ClassroomCollection Guides:

  • Starting Friday, May 8, 2020, teachers who have an FPC account for each instructional context will have temporary, teacher-only, digital access to their FPC Collection Guides via their Online Resources.

 

GENERAL PERMISSION GUIDELINES:

By reading or recording virtually, you agree to abide by the below guidelines.

  • At the start of your live reading or recording, please mention that you are reading/using resources from Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™, the Phonics, Spelling, and Word Study System or Leveled Literacy Intervention with permission from Heinemann.
  • Recordings can only be placed in a closed digital or password protected environment to be shared exclusively with your student(s).
  • Please remove and delete your recordings when your district/school resumes learning at school, or at the latest, December 31, 2020. (Please note, this date has now been extended to June 30, 2021.)
